How long does one propane tank last?

At full output, a 20 lb tank lasts about 5 hours on flame and heat together, about 9 hours on heat only and about 14 hours on flame only. Lower dial settings last longer. See the table above for how we got these numbers.

Can I use it as a heater with no flame?

Yes. Heat-only mode is rated 49,000 BTU/h and shows no flame.

Can I use it under a covered patio?

Ninja does not specifically address covered patios. Its rule is an open outdoor area with 3 ft on all sides and 7.5 ft above the unit. Check the owner’s guide and your local fire code before using it under any roof.

Can I use it in the rain?

Ninja says yes: it can be used safely in rain or snow. Wet ceramic rocks may hiss when heated.

Is it really smokeless?

Ninja describes it as smokeless, with no smoke, sparks or embers, because it burns propane rather than wood.

How hard is it to set up?
