The Aventon Level 4 REC is a commuter e-bike with a 750 W rear hub motor, 80 Nm of torque and a 733 Wh battery. It ships as Class 2 and converts to Class 3, with pedal assist to 28 mph. Range is up to 75 miles. It weighs 68.5 lb, has regenerative braking, and has a 300 lb total weight limit.
The Level 4 REC recovers energy under braking and on descents and puts it back into the battery. The brakes are Tektro HD-E3520 two-piston hydraulic discs with 180 mm rotors front and rear and motor cut-off.

Fenders, a rear rack and integrated front and rear lights come on the bike.

An 80 mm coil fork with preload adjustment and lockout, paired with an Aventon suspension seatpost: 30.9 mm diameter, 50 mm of travel.

A 36 V, 20 Ah battery with LG 21700 cells, removable and mounted inside the frame. The included 42 V, 4 A charger takes it from empty to full in about 5 hours.

Aventon's ACU system runs on 4G and GPS. It shows the bike's location, flags unusual activity and can lock the motor remotely. The first year of 4G service is included; after that it is a paid Aventon subscription. Hold Mode keeps the bike from rolling when you stop on a hill, and Ride Tune changes how the motor responds.

Up to 75 miles from the 733 Wh battery, based on a 165 lb rider on a flat paved road in Eco mode. Higher assist, throttle use, hills, heavier loads and cold weather reduce range. Regenerative braking puts a little charge back on stop-and-go routes.
It ships as Class 2: throttle and pedal assist to 20 mph. Converted to Class 3, pedal assist reaches 28 mph. Several states restrict Class 3 on bike paths, so check your local rules before you convert it.
It turns the motor into a generator under braking and on descents, putting some energy back into the battery and adding drag to slow you. It works alongside the hydraulic disc brakes, not instead of them, and adds the most on hilly routes and repeated stops.
The S/M frame fits riders 5'3" to 5'10" with 420 mm of reach. The Large fits 5'10" to 6'4" with 450 mm of reach. Stack is 620 mm on the S/M and 618 mm on the Large. Between sizes, reach matters more than height alone.

Your state and city decide, by class. Class 1 assists only while you pedal, to 20 mph. Class 2 adds a throttle, also to 20 mph. Class 3 assists pedalling to 28 mph and is restricted or banned on bike paths in several states. Many trail systems allow Class 1 only. Check the rules where you ride before you raise the speed setting.
